Hailing from a small maritime community in Nova Scotia Canada, I crossed the country in 2003 to pursue my desire to work in the graphic design industry and began studying at the Pacific Design Academy on beautiful British Columbia's Vancouver Island.
After graduating with distinction in 2005, I traveled to the Rocky Mountains and in 2006 I began my career as Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator for luxury hotel brand Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Being responsible for 3 regional mountain properties instilled in my foundation a solid understanding of how to implement a impactful and consistent globally recognizable brand. One that operates with over 80 hotels in 30 countries around the world. Working for Fairmont taught me how to provide a leading level of customer service that is unmatched in the industry.
The desire to return to the coast pulled me back to the pacific, so after accepting a Graphic Design position in 2008 with Canada's #1 industry leading direct sales company Epicure, I returned to British Columbia and now call Vancouver Island my home. While working under Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 for 2021 recipient Amelia Warren, I utilized multiple professional development opportunities to diversify my skill sets and expand creatively. While in the trenches I mastered the tools of my trade, increased my production time and learned to manage deadlines from multiple project owners.
Looking to diversity my portfolio I moved on to accept a position as Graphic Designer in 2015 with the Royal BC Museum. A world-class museum of natural and human history voted best museum in Canada by Trip Advisor for the 5th consecutive year. Working on larger international marketing campaigns allowed me to build strong versatile post productions skills and developed my knowledge of creating profitable marketing campaigns which resulted in record breaking box office sales.
Since 2020 I have been working with Government Communication and Public Engagement for the province of British Columbia. My role there allows me to flex my creative muscles that I have developed through my previous experience and to really explore new areas of design that I am interested in. With over 16 years in the creative industry I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of organizations and people. My experience has been vast and has turned me into a creative workhorse capably of any design challenge and a valuable asset to any team.
